Allen Chilson, senior advisor, global talent acquisition at Danaher Corp., has been leveraging DE&I data in his talent acquisition decision making for over 15 years and has been a driver of DE&I outcomes in his vendor programs (RPO and MSP) for six years. With his work in talent acquisition, Chilson has been focused on identifying and attracting diverse individuals to full-time and contingent roles through sharing his company’s programs around DE&I that will impact the worker during their time at the company.
One of Chilson’s biggest accomplishments is his contingent workforce programs, which have produced best-in-class results in terms of supplier diversity. He’s also been successful in educating suppliers on Danaher’s DE&I programs, which has helped reassure diverse candidates that Danaher and its subsidiaries value a diverse and inclusive working environment. “Educating and sharing DE&I information is important — you want candidates to see what your company has to offer in terms of workplace culture,” he explains.
Chilson’s focus on diversity goes beyond his company’s programs; he’s also a member of a small group of industry colleagues that produced a DE&I handbook available to procurement and talent acquisition leaders. He’s a member of the CW Diversity Council, sponsored by Consciously Unbiased, and he’s an open networker — sharing information with his LinkedIn network and collaborating with other industry practitioners on how to advance DE&I.
As Chilson continues his work in DE&I, he’s focused on ensuring that suppliers are not only hiring diverse contingent workers, but also that they’re recruiting diverse people to their full-time staff. “We want suppliers that share our values and who believe in the power of diversity,” he shares. With this being his third year on the list of DE&I Influencers, it’s safe to say that Chilson will continue to be a voice for DE&I initiatives in the future.
